Article summary

To add a basic interface filter to a device template follow the steps below.

  1. Log in to Netreo as a user with the SuperAdmin access level.
  2. Go to the main menu and select Administration > Templates to open the Device Templates Administration page.
  3. Locate the device template to which you would like to add a logging rule and select its edit icon in the ACTIONS column.
  4. In the Network Interface Properties panel locate the Basic Interface Filter field.
  5. Enter a regular expression (match/not match) based on the interface names. The resulting interfaces will be added for availability monitoring.
    1. See the Instances Tab section of Device Administration for a more detailed explanation of how Netreo determines what interfaces for a given device will be monitored.
  6. Select the save icon next to the field to save the filter.
  7. Now follow the instructions in Re-Apply Device Templates After Editing.

If you later decide to change the expression in the filter, don't forget to save the filter and Re-Apply Device Templates After Editing.

Deleting the basic interface filter from a device template will remove that filter from any devices to which it was added by that template. (Remember, however, that other applied templates may add their own filter.)

However, a basic interface filter added to a managed device by a device template will not be removed if the template that applied it is no longer associated to that particular device. The filter must then be either overwritten by another applied device template, or manually removed (per device) using the Basic Filter button on the Instances tab of the Device Administration page for the device.
