Article summary

To assign subnets to a site follow the appropriate steps below.

When Netreo performs its routine auto-discovery scan, any devices discovered in the subnets of a site are automatically assigned to that site.

Manually Add Subnets to a Site

  1. Log in to Netreo as a user with the SuperAdmin access level.
  2. Go the the main menu and select Administration > Grouping > Site to open the Site Administration page.
  3. Locate the site to which you wish to add subnets in the Current Sites table.
  4. Select the edit icon for that site in the ACTIONS column.
  5. On the edit page select the Subnets tab.
  6. For each subnet you wish to add to the site enter the following information into the available fields:
    1. The address of the subnet.
    2. The minimum CIDR prefix.
    3. If you do not wish Netreo to automatically scan this subnet for new devices as part of its routine auto-discovery scan, set the switch in the Auto Scan column to OFF. (This can be changed at any time later.)
    4. Select the save icon in the ACTIONS column.

Export Subnets From a Site

Exporting the subnet list from a site produces a CSV file that includes settings from the following columns SUBNET, PREFIX, AUTO SCAN, REMOTE POLLER. This CSV may be used as a backup or to transfer subnet settings from one site to anther.

Exporting the subnet list from a site with no subnets produces a CSV file that contains only the header information for the columns. This may be used to compile your own subnet list to bulk import subnets into any site.

  1. Log in to Netreo as a user with the SuperAdmin access level.
  2. Go the the main menu and select Administration > Grouping > Site to open the Site Administration page.
  3. Locate the site from which you wish to export subnets in the Current Sites table.
  4. Select the edit icon for that site in the ACTIONS column.
  5. On the edit page select the Subnets tab.
  6. Select Download All Subnets to export the subnet list values and download as a CSV file.

Import Subnets to a Site

Importing a subnet list CSV adds the subnets included to a site without deleting existing subnets.

Exporting the subnet list from a site with no subnets produces a CSV file that contains only the header information for the columns. This may be used to compile your own subnet list to bulk import subnets into any site.

Required values for import are "subnet" (subnet address) and "mask" (CIDR prefix). All other values are optional. Imported CSV files with missing required values or incorrect values will result in blank/incorrect fields in the subnet list, which may cause unexpected results.

The column headers ("subnet, mask, auto scan, remote poller") are not required for import and may be removed from the CSV if desired. They are there for guidance only. However, if the column headers are present, but malformed (e.g., accidentally edited by a user), Netreo will assume no headers are being provided and use the first CSV value as the subnet address value for the first imported subnet. This could cause all remaining values to appear in the wrong columns on import.

Duplicate Subnets
Currently, Netreo does not perform deduplication of imported subnets or warn of their existence. Additionally, existing subnets are not updated with settings from imported duplicates. Please vet your imported CSV file carefully to prevent duplicate subnets from being added to a site.
  1. Log in to Netreo as a user with the SuperAdmin access level.
  2. Go the the main menu and select Administration > Grouping > Site to open the Site Administration page.
  3. Locate the site to which you wish to import subnets in the Current Sites table.
  4. Select the edit icon for that site in the ACTIONS column.
  5. On the edit page select the Subnets tab.
  6. Select Upload Subnets.
    1. In the dialog that appears select the CSV file to be uploaded and select Import Now.
    2. In the preview window that appears:
      1. Use the checkboxes to select/deselect the subnets that should be imported.
      2. If desired, change the auto-scan setting for each subnet before importing.
      3. You may also select a new CSV file to upload and abandon the current list in the preview.
      4. Select Import Now.

Edit a Subnet

  6. In the Subnets table locate the subnet that you wish to edit and select its edit icon in the ACTION column.
  7. Edit the subnet settings as desired.
  8. Select Save.
  9. In the dialog that appears select Submit.
  10. The new settings are automatically applied and saved.

Disable/Enable Individual Subnets

Disabling a subnet prevents Netreo's auto discovery scan from scanning that subnet for new devices that can be added to Netreo for monitoring.

  6. In the Subnets table locate the subnet that you wish to disable/enable and set the switch in the AUTO SCAN column to the desired setting.
  7. The new setting is automatically saved.

Disable/Enable Multiple Subnets

Disabling a subnet prevents Netreo's auto discovery scan from scanning that subnet for new devices that can be added to Netreo for monitoring.
