Article summary

Only users with the SuperAdmin access level may deploy and manage service engines.

See Service Engines to learn about service engines and their use.

The "Scanner" in a service engine group is the service engine designated to handle all auto-discovery and parenting scans for that group. Only one service engine within a group may act as the Scanner. The Scanner for a group is indicated on the Service Engine edit page by a darkened star icon in that service engine's row.

By default, the first service engine added to a new service engine group is automatically designated as the Scanner. If the current Scanner service engine within a group fails, next longest-standing group member automatically becomes the new Scanner.

The Scanner role may also be manually assigned to a specific service engine within a group using the procedure below.

Procedure

  1. Log in to Netreo as a user with the SuperAdmin access level.
  2. Go to the main menu and select Administration > System > Service Engines to open the Service Engine Administration page.
  3. In the Service Engine Groups panel locate the service engine group that you would like to edit and select its edit icon in the ACTIONS column.
  4. On the edit page for the service engine group locate the service engine to which you would like to assign the Scanner role and select its scanner icon in the ACTIONS column.
