Description
The Device Dashboard screen shows detailed information about a specific monitored host device. (Touching the name of a device on any screen in the application will open its Device Dashboard.)
At the top of the screen is the name of the device. Below that are three tabs for displaying different sets of information about the device:
- Overview - This tab shows the availability status of the host on the network and provides basic information about the device itself.
- Services - This tab shows the status and history of any service checks that have been added to the device.
- Performance - This tab provides the status and history of any statistics from the device that are being monitored for performance using threshold checks.
Touching the three horizontal bars to the left of the screen title opens the navigation menu, allowing you to jump straight to the primary screens of the Netreo application:
- Home (Overview)
- Incidents
- Tactical Overview
- Web & Email ART
- Settings
This menu is also available from any of those screens.
Overview Tab
The Overview tab provides detailed information about the host device, as well as a list of any issues the host is currently experiencing.
Tactical Overview
At the top is a Tactical Overview-style display showing the status of any monitoring checks assigned to the device. It shows the number of checks in the OK, ACKNOWLEDGED, WARNING and CRITICAL states (the UNKNOWN state is not shown in this display). Below that is shown some useful information specific to that device type.
Host Information
Beneath the Tactical Overview info is the Host Information panel, which contains useful information specific to this device, such as:
- IP Address
- Current State - Is the device available on the network.
- Last Reboot Time
- Type of Device - The device type of the device.
- Category - The category device group to which this device belongs.
- Site - The site device group to which this device belongs.
- Address - As entered in the Overview tab of the configuration pages for the site above.
- Strategic Groups - The list of strategic group device groups to which this device belongs.
- Uptime - Given for the previous month, month-to-date, previous 7 days and previous day.
The Host Information panel is closed by default. Touch the panel header to expand the panel.
Current Issues
Beneath the Host Information panel is the Current Issues panel. If this host is currently experiencing any alarms, they will be shown as a list in this panel. At the top right, the total number of alarms is displayed.
For each alarm in the panel, the following details will be shown:
- The name of the monitoring check that generated the alarm
- Incident ID (if applicable)
- Type of monitoring check that generated the alarm
- The amount of time the check has been in that alarm state
If the alarm has an incident ID, touch the alarm in the list to open the Incident View screen for that incident.
Services Tab
The Services tab displays a list of all the service checks assigned to this device. For each check in the list the following information is provided:
- The name of the check - The names are color-coded to indicate the check's current state (green = OK, orange = UNKNOWN, yellow = WARNING and red = CRITICAL).
- Time-in-state - The duration for which the check has been in its current state.
- Details from any alert notifications that were sent out - These generally include specifics of why the check would be in a non-OK state.
Touch a service in the list to see its status history in the Service History sub-screen.
Service History Sub-screen
When you touch a service check in the Services tab, it opens the status history for that check in the Service History sub-screen. This screen shows a log-like list of status changes over the life of the check (if this log is very large, it may take some time to load).
At the top of the screen is a search box that acts as a realtime filter for the list so you can find what you're looking for quickly.
For each entry in the log, the following information is provided:
- Service check status
- Date and time of status change
- The conditions that caused the status change
Performance Tab
The Performance tab displays a list of all statistics being monitored for performance. That is to say, it's a list of statistics for which a threshold check has been configured (this includes anomaly checks, as well).
The list of statistics is grouped by general type.
Touch a statistic to open it in the Performance History sub-screen (except interfaces, they open in the Interface Status sub-screen).
Performance History Sub-screen
The Performance History sub-screen is dominated by a line graph showing the statistic's performance values for the past 24 hours. If the graph shows more than one value type, touch that value type's name in the graph legend to hide/show it in the graph.
Below the graph are panels showing the values in numerical format.
Interface Status Sub-screen
This sub-screen lists the interfaces for the device and provides the following information:
- Bandwidth In
- Bandwidth Out
- Errors In
- Errors Out
- Status
Touch the bandwidth values to open the Performance History sub-screen showing both in and out values.
Touch the error values to open the Performance History sub-screen showing both in and out values.
