Article summary

Description

The email dashboard widget displays a variety of detailed information about the performance of your monitored email application, along with the health of any business workflows associated with it. It replicates the view of the Email Application Performance dashboard.

Display Mode

This widget has two display modes, wide and narrow. Narrow mode displays only application availability status and total transaction time. The widget will automatically choose the correct mode based on the layout of the dashboard it is placed in. The following images show the wide and narrow display modes, respectively.

Components

This widget replicates the display on the Email Application Performance dashboard. It has three components, outlined below.

Application Panel

The application panel.

This panel consists of three sub-panels, outlined below.

Application Status
This panel shows the status of the application availability service check component of the email application check. It simply displays a large icon indicating the current status of that check.

Transaction Time
This panel displays the last recorded value of the Total Transaction Time statistic collected by the email application check.

Detail
This panel is made up of a table displaying some basic statistics collected as part of the email application check and their calculated average values. The statistics collected are:

  • Total send time
  • Total receive time
  • Send handshake time
  • Receive handshake time
  • Total transaction time

The columns show the previous 15-minute, 1-hour and 24-hour averages for those statistics. Note: Threshold and anomaly checks may be added to the email application check to automatically monitor the performance any of the listed statistics.

Click a value in the table to open a 24-hour performance graph for that statistic. Click the icon in the top right of the Detail sub-panel to open a performance graph page that combines this table with the response time graph (below).

Response Time Graph

The email application response time panel.

This panel displays a graph showing the response time performance over the previous 12 hours of the statistics listed in the Detail sub-panel (above). The reference time shown in the graph indicates the last time the graph was loaded with data, and represents the extreme right side of the graph.

Click the icon near the top right of the panel to export the graph in various formats or send it to a printer.

Business Workflow Panel

The associated business workflows panel.

This panel displays a tactical overview widget for the default "Mail" business workflow. This panel provides you with a jump-start on troubleshooting any problems your email application may be experiencing (as trouble with an associated device may be the root cause). Assign any managed devices related to your email application to the Mail business workflow to see them here.

Click a device name in the table to navigate to its device dashboard.

Configuration

The Email widget is added to a dashboard on the Customize Dashboards page (Administration > Users > Custom Dashboards).

Only one widget of this type may be added to a dashboard.

There are no configuration options for this widget.

After adding the widget and saving your options, remember to save the dashboard for its display to be updated.
