Description

The Generic Passive Check is used with the Netreo Alerting API.

You can choose to add this service check to a managed device manually, using device templates or using the Alerting API. The Alerting API can then be called by another system to update or retrieve the check's status on a single device. (Note: The Alerting API does not allow for the custom configuration of alert timing or action groups when adding this check to a device. To customize the alert timing and action groups, you should add this check manually or by using device templates. See Service Check for more information about passive service check alert timing.)

The status of this check can also be retrieved (only) from a single device using the Device Service Checks API (which retrieves the status of all service checks on the specified device).

Additionally, the Multi-Device-Status API can bulk-retrieve all statuses from groups of devices using a single API call, but it is much more complex to implement and requires external data parsing.

Check-specific Fields

(See Service Check for configuration parameters common to all service checks.)

  • DESCRIPTION
(Required) This field specifies a name for this check. The name entered must be unique among service check names on the managed device to which it is added (the name can be used again only on a different managed device). It is used to identify this specific check from among other service checks added to the same host.
