To determine the latency between the Netreo server and a device, Netreo send a series of six pings from its appliance address to the primary address of the device and averages the result.
The first ping is used to “prime” the network path by populating ARP caches and such, and is ignored for the average (as sometimes the initial ping in a series can have a slower return value).
