Import/Export Devices

General

To navigate to the Import/Export Devices page, select Administration > Add Device > Import from the main menu. This page is only available to users with the SuperAdmin access level.

This page allows a Netreo administrator to add multiple devices to Netreo simultaneously by importing a CSV file containing relevant data about those devices. This CSV file must be formatted properly for the import to work. A sample CSV file may be downloaded from the Import panel (see below).

However, be aware that if a device on an import list is already configured within Netreo, the settings in the import list will overwrite the current Netreo settings. Additionally, if a device on an import list is already configured in Netreo—but with a different IP address—that device will be added again as a new device, resulting in duplicates. By far, the safest method of adding devices to Netreo is to configure appropriate device templates and use the auto-discover feature.

Export Panel

Download Current Configuration - Select this button to export the current configuration of your managed devices as a CSV file. This file includes all of the elements, in the proper format, required for importing devices using the Import panel.

Import Panel

Download Sample - Download a sample CSV file properly configured for device import. You may use this sample as a base to create your own device import CSV file.

Browse - Opens the file select dialog for your operating system allowing you to select a CSV file of devices for import. A .csv file is the only valid file type that may be selected.

Run Auto Configuration Rules - Select this checkbox to process your imported devices using the auto-configuration rulesets.

Import Now - Being the import process using the CSV file selected using the Browse button. The import process may take a while depending on the size of the list. Once the process is complete, you will be provided with a report detailing the results.

More About File Format Panel

This panel includes a list of the elements that must be included in your CSV file for a successful import into Netreo. You may download a sample CSV file for use as a template (see Import Panel above). All of the elements must be included, comma-separated, in the order listed, on a single line per device, and with a carriage return at the end of each line. Fields identified as optional may be left empty, but the commas separating those fields must still be included.
