Under normal circumstances Netreo will automatically scan your network for new devices according to the schedule set on the Auto Discover Schedule page (Administration > Add Device > Auto Discovery).
However, if you don't want to wait for the subnet scanner to run (or, if the subnet for the device you want to add has had auto scan disabled), there are three options for manually adding a new device to Netreo.
- Quick Add - The fastest way to add a single device. Very few options. Adds a single device. Most device configuration will be done automatically using autoconfiguration rules.
- Manual Add - Offers a full range of configuration settings for adding a single device. Option to use or bypass autoconfiguration rules to configure devices.
- Device Import - Offers a full range of configuration settings for adding a single or multiple devices. Option to use or bypass autoconfiguration rules to configure devices.
The option you choose will likely be influenced by how many devices need to be added and how much control you want over the initial configuration.
See the article Manually Add Devices to Netreo.
If you no longer wish to monitor a device with Netreo, you have two options:
- Switch the “Poll Device” and “Host & Service Alarms” settings on the Device Administration Main page of the device to OFF. This will stop future collection of status and performance information for this device, but leave the existing data intact for future reference. It will also not count against the number of licensed devices.
- Delete the device from Netreo. This will remove all historical data, and cannot be undone. Devices can be deleted individually or en masse.
To prevent accidental deletion of devices, each managed device in Netreo includes a setting in its Device Administration Advanced page labeled DISABLE DELETION. By default, this setting is ON and prevents any device from being deleted unless it is manually switched to OFF.
