Description

The Service Engine Administration page is where service engines connected to Netreo are managed.

To navigate to the Service Engine Administration page, go to the main menu and select Administration > System > Service Engines. This page is only available to users with the SuperAdmin access level.

Deleting a service engine
A service engine may not be deleted from Netreo while there are managed devices assigned to it for monitoring. Reassign any monitored devices before attempting to delete a service engine.

"Add Service Engine Group" Button
Select this button to create a service engine group. See Create a Service Engine Group.

"Assign Devices to Service Engine Groups" Button
This button allows you to assign individual devices to a specific service engine group. See Assign Devices to a Service Engine Group.

This table displays the list of service engine groups. The table can be sorted by any column except LAST UPDATE and ACTIONS. The search box functions as a realtime filter for the table. The table columns and their meanings are explained below.

Select this button to add a deployed service engine to Netreo. See:

Service Engines Table

This table displays all service engines currently connected to your Netreo deployment. The table can be sorted by any column except ACTIONS. The search box functions as a realtime filter for the table. The table columns and their meanings are explained below.

STATUS
Service Engines are monitored like any other device managed by Netreo. This column displays the current alarm status for the service engine.

NAME
Displays the name of the service engine as it is configured on its device administration page. Click on the name link to open the Device Dashboard for the device.

TYPE
Displays the services running on this service engine. Select a service type to navigate to a page that displays a table of the devices being monitored by that service engine for that service.

ACTIVE DEVICES
The number of active managed devices being handled by the service engine for each of the services shown.

SOFTWARE VERION
Displays the version of Netreo the service engine is using. Currently, each service engine will need to be repolled (after approximately 1 hour) to display the correct version after a software update.

The actions available for this table entry.

  • API Key - Display the API key for this service engine. (Note: API key is displayed in plain text in a pop-up dialog to allow copy/pasting.)
  • Set as Default Service Engine
  • Delete - Delete this service engine from Netreo. (Note: A service engine may not be deleted if it has any managed devices assigned to it for monitoring. Reassign any monitored devices before attempting to delete a service engine.)

Services List Page

This is where you can view and manage the services running on a particular service engine. Open this page by selecting a service for the service engine in the TYPE column of the Service Engines table on the Service Engine Administration page (see above), then select Service List from the breadcrumb links at the top of the page.

Services Table

This table displays all of the engine services currently running on this service engine. If there are a large number of services listed in the table, the table will paginate according to the current selection in the “records per page” field. Pages can be navigated using the page numbers located at the bottom right of the table. The table can be sorted by any column except ACTIONS. The search box functions as a realtime filter for the table. The table columns and their meanings are explained below:

DESCRIPTION
Displays the description entered for the service engine on the Create Service Engine page.

SERVICE
Displays the resource type selected for the service engine on the Create Service Engine page.

ACTIVE DEVICES
The number of active devices being handled by the service.

ESTABLISHED TIME
The date and time that the service was activated on this service engine.

ACTIONS
The actions available for this table entry.

  • View Devices - Select to open the Licensed Exporters or Licensed Loggers page (see below) depending on service type.
  • Delete - Select to remove the service from the service engine.

Devices Managed by Remote Collector Page

This is where you can view all devices being managed by a particular remote collector. Open this page by selecting the Netreo Remote Collector link in the TYPE column icon of the Services table of the Services List page (see above).

Devices Managed by Remote Collector Table

This table displays all of the devices currently being polled for data by this service engine. The table columns and their meanings are explained below:

DEVICE NAME
The name of the managed device being polled. Click on the name link to open the device dashboard for the device.

Exporters Page

This is where you can view the devices that are being recognized as traffic flow exporters by Netreo. Open this page by selecting the Netreo Traffic Collector link in the TYPE column icon of the Services table of the Services List page (see above).

Exporters Table

This table displays all of the devices currently recognized as traffic flow exporters for this service engine. If there are a large number of devices listed in the table, the table will paginate according to the current selection in the “records per page” field. Pages can be navigated using the page numbers located at the bottom right of the table. The table can be sorted by any column except TIME OF STATUS CHECK. The search box functions as a realtime filter for the table. The table columns and their meanings are explained below:

DEVICE NAME
The name of the managed device providing the traffic flows to the service engine. Click on the name link to open the device dashboard for the device.

STATUS
The current flow exporting status of the device.

  • Active = The device is a recognized exporter and is actively sending flows to the service engine.
  • Inactive = The device is a recognized exporter but is not currently sending flows to the service engine.

TIME DISCOVERED
Displays the date and time the service engine first began receiving traffic flows from the device.

TIME OF STATUS CHECK
Displays the date and time that the exporter status of the device was last checked. Exporters are checked approximately every 5 minutes.

Loggers Page

This is where you can view the devices that this service engine is currently receiving log data from. Open this page by selecting the Netreo Log Collector link in the TYPE column icon of the Services table of the Services List page (see above).

Loggers Table

This table displays all of the devices currently sending log data to this service engine. If there are a large number of devices listed in the table, the table will paginate according to the current selection in the “records per page” field. Pages can be navigated using the page numbers located at the bottom right of the table. The table can be sorted by any column except TIME OF STATUS CHECK. The search box functions as a realtime filter for the table. The table columns and their meanings are explained below:

DEVICE NAME
The name of the managed device providing the log data to the service engine. Click on the name link to open the device dashboard for the device.

STATUS
The current log exporting status of the device.

  • Active = The device is a recognized exporter and is actively sending logs to the service engine.
  • Inactive = The device is a recognized exporter but is not sending logs to the service engine.

TIME DISCOVERED
Displays the date and time the service engine first began receiving log data from the device.

TIME OF STATUS CHECK
Displays the date and time that the exporter status of the device was last checked. Exporters are checked approximately every 5 minutes.

TYPE
Displays WMI if the logs being sent are Windows EventLogs, otherwise this column is empty.
