Netreo can watch for and automatically add devices from your ServiceNow CMDB for monitoring
To navigate to the ServiceNow Administration page go to the main menu and select Administration > Add Device > Learn from ServiceNow CMDB.
ServiceNow Configuration Options
Basic configuration options for ServiceNow CMDB device discovery. The fields and their meanings are as follows:
- Enabled/Disabled
Select this switch to turn ServiceNow CMDB device discovery off/on. - USERNAME
Enter the username for your ServiceNow CMDB account. - PASSWORD
Enter the password for the username above. - INSTANCE
Enter the custom part of the URL for accessing the CMDB (provided by ServiceNow). - LOCATION DESIGNATOR
Select the CMDB location designator by which you wish to organize your discovered devices. Netreo will create a site for each member of that designator type and assign any discovered devices appropriately. For example, if you select City, Netreo will create a new site for each city it finds while discovering devices and assign those devices to them based on that City value. All of the default ServiceNow designators are available to choose from, as well as an option for a custom ServiceNow designator (configured in ServiceNow). If no designator is selected, no new sites are created and all discovered CMDB devices are placed into the default Unknown site.
You must select Save after making any changes to these fields.
The Test ServiceNow button (below the Filters table) tests connectivity to your ServiceNow account.
Filters Table
The Filters table shows all of the filters Netreo is currently using to filter for devices. At least one filter must be configured.
The table may be sorted by the column headers and filtered using the search box.
The filters are evaluated using logical OR when discovering devices. A device matching any filter will be added to Netreo.
To add a discovery filter to the table select the add filter (+) button.
Add Filter Dialog
The filter fields, their meanings and acceptable values are as follows:
- sys_class_name
Required, exact match only. Enter the sys_class_name of the devices you wish to add as it appears in the CMDB. - name
Optional, regex allowed. Enter the device name in theCMDB of the devices you wish to add. - vendor_name
Optional, regex allowed. Enter the vendor name in theCMDB of the devices you wish to add. - manufacturer_name
Optional, regex allowed. Enter the manufacturer name in theCMDB of the devices you wish to add. - Active Device Parameters
Required, exact match only. A key/value pair configured for the device in the CMDB. Enter the key in the first field, and the value in the second field. At least one parameter is required. If you need additional parameters select the add parameter (+) button. Inclusion parameters are evaluated using logical AND when discovering devices. A device must match all parameters to be added to Netreo.
ServiceNow Proxy Panel
If you wish Netreo to use a proxy server to process requests to ServiceNow configure it here. The fields and their meanings are as follows:
- IP ADDRESS
Enter the IP address of your proxy server. - PORT
Enter the port to use for your proxy server. - USERNAME
Enter the username to use to access your proxy server. - PASSWORD
Enter the password for the above username. - AUTHENTICATION
Select the authentication type to use with your proxy server. The options available are:- None
- Basic
- NTLM
You must select Save Proxy Configuration after making any changes to these fields.
