Article summary

Description

The Tactical Overview screen aggregates the health status of your devices by device group. A condensed version of this screen is displayed as a widget on the Overview screen.

Use the selection buttons at the top to select which device group type to display (site, category or strategic group). If you have a large number of device groups use the search box at the top to filter the list in real time,

The aggregated health display for each device group shows the number of devices in that group with monitoring checks in each of the five possible states. In order from left to right, the states are: OK, ACKNOWLEDGED, WARNING, UNKNOWN and CRITICAL. The display does not indicate what kind of checks (host, service, threshold, etc.) are in those states, only the number of them in each state. You will have to drill down to the Device Dashboard screen to see the status of individual types of checks.

This shows that, of all the checks on all the devices in the "Development Servers" device group (a category group), 17 checks are currently in the OK state and 3 are in the CRITICAL state.

Touch a device group in the list to open it in the Device Group sub-screen (detailed below).

Device Group Sub-screen

Touch a device group name in the Tactical Overview list to open that group in the Device Group sub-screen and see the health status of individual devices in the group. The group name is displayed at the top of the screen. For each device in the group, the health display shows the number of monitoring checks in each of the five possible states (as listed above).

As with the Tactical Overview display above, the device group display does not indicate what kind of checks (host, service, threshold, etc.) are in those states, only the number of them in each state. You will have to drill down to the Device Dashboard screen to see the status of individual types of checks.

This shows that, of all the monitoring checks on this device (host, service, threshold, etc.), 6 are currently in the OK state and 1 is in the CRITICAL state.

Touch a device name in the list to view the Device Dashboard screen for that device.

Touching the three horizontal bars to the left of the screen title (on either screen) opens the navigation menu, allowing you to jump straight to the primary screens of the application:

  • Home (Overview)
  • Incidents
  • Tactical Overview
  • Web & Email ART
  • Settings

This menu is available from any of those screens.
