Working with Maintenance Windows

One-time maintenance windows may be created by users with any access level.
Recurring maintenance windows may be scheduled by users with the Power User access level or higher.

Place a single device into a one-time maintenance window
- Locate the device that you wish to put into maintenance, either by searching for it using Netreo's search field in the main menu or by drilling into a dashboard feature such as the Tactical Overview dashboard widget, and select it to navigate to its device dashboard.
- On the Overview tab select Create One-Time Maintenance Window.
- In the Duration field enter the number of minutes that the maintenance window should last.
- In the Description field enter a name for this maintenance window to be displayed on the Maintenance Window Schedules page, as well as the Active Maintenance Windows page once the window is in progress.
- Select Save.
The maintenance window for the device will begin 15 minutes after it has been created.
Create a one-time maintenance window
Use these steps to place one or more devices, service checks, WebART checks or EmailART checks into a one-time maintenance window.
- Go to the main menu and select Utilities > Maintenance Windows.
- Select Maintenance Window Administration.
- Select Create One-Time Maintenance Window.
- In the TYPE field select the type of item you wish to put in the maintenance window.
- If you selected a device group (category, site or functional group):
- In the SPECIFICALLY field select the specific device group to be put into maintenance. All devices in that group are included in the maintenance window.
- Proceed to the next main step below.
- If you selected device:
- Select the device(s) to be put into maintenance from the DEVICE(S) table that appears.
- Proceed to the next main step below.
- If you selected service:
- In the FILTER BY field select a device group type to filter the list of available device groups.
- Select the specific device group containing the device containing the service check to be put into maintenance.
- Select the specific device containing the service check to be put into maintenance.
- In the SPECIFICALLY field select the specific service check to be put into maintenance.
- Proceed to the next main step below.
- If you selected WebART:
- In the SPECIFICALLY field select the specific WebART check to be put into maintenance.
- Proceed to the next main step below.
- If you selected EmailART:
- In the SPECIFICALLY field select the specific EmailART check to be put into maintenance.
- Proceed to the next main step below.
- If you selected Add Functional Group:
- In the FUNCTIONAL GROUP NAME field enter a name for a new functional group. This option creates a new functional group to which you will add devices.
- In the DEVICE(S) table select the devices to add to the new functional group.
- Proceed to the next main step below.
- If you selected a device group (category, site or functional group):
- In the Showing field select to display the start and end times of the maintenance window in either local browser time or Netreo server time.
- If your Netreo server is local (e.g. a service engine) both options will display the same time.
- In the START fields:
- Enter a start date in the format 08/08/2020 or click in the field to select a date from a calendar.
- Enter a start time in the format 12:00:00 or click in the field to select a time.
- In the End fields:
- Enter an end date in the format 08/08/2020 or click in the field to select a date from a calendar.
- Enter an end time in the format 12:00:00 or click in the field to select a time.
- In the NAME field enter a descriptive name for this maintenance window.
- This name is displayed on the Maintenance Window Schedules page, as well as the Active Maintenance Windows page once the window is in progress.
- Select Create.
- In the TYPE field select the type of item you wish to put in the maintenance window.
Create a recurring maintenance window
Use these steps to place one or more devices, service checks, WebART checks or EmailART checks into a recurring maintenance window.
- Go to the main menu and select Utilities > Maintenance Windows.
- Select Maintenance Window Administration.
- Select Create Reoccurring Maintenance Window.
- In the TYPE field select the type of item you wish to put in the maintenance window.
- If you selected a device group (category, site or functional group):
- In the SPECIFICALLY field select the specific device group to be put into maintenance. All devices in that group are included in the maintenance window.
- Proceed to the next main step below.
- If you selected device:
- Select the device(s) to be put into maintenance from the DEVICE(S) table that appears.
- Proceed to the next main step below.
- If you selected service:
- In the FILTER BY field select a device group type to filter the list of available device groups.
- Select the specific device group containing the device containing the service check to be put into maintenance.
- Select the specific device containing the service check to be put into maintenance.
- In the SPECIFICALLY field select the specific service check to be put into maintenance.
- Proceed to the next main step below.
- If you selected WebART:
- In the SPECIFICALLY field select the specific WebART check to be put into maintenance.
- Proceed to the next main step below.
- If you selected EmailART:
- In the SPECIFICALLY field select the specific EmailART check to be put into maintenance.
- Proceed to the next main step below.
- If you selected Add Functional Group:
- In the FUNCTIONAL GROUP NAME field enter a name for a new functional group. This option creates a new functional group to which you will add devices.
- In the DEVICE(S) table select the devices to add to the new functional group.
- Proceed to the next main step below.
- If you selected a device group (category, site or functional group):
- In the FREQUENCY field select whether the maintenance windows repeats daily, weekly or monthly.
- In the ENFORCE field select whether or not devices added to a device group while that group is in maintenance should also be put into maintenance.
- In the NAME field enter a descriptive name for this maintenance window.
- This name is displayed on the Maintenance Window Schedules page, as well as the Active Maintenance Windows page once the window is in progress.
- Select Create.
- In the TYPE field select the type of item you wish to put in the maintenance window.
End a currently active maintenance window early
Follow these step if you would like to bring your devices out of maintenance before a maintenance window ends naturally.
- Go to the main menu and select Utilities > Maintenance Windows.
- Locate the maintenance window that you wish to end in the active maintenance window table.
- Select the maintenance window to open its details page.
- Select End Now.
