Maintenance Release Versioning and Release Schedule

Version Numbers

Current

The version numbers for current versions of Netreo software consists of three parts:

• Year of release (major version number)
• Minor version number
• Week (of the year) release number

In practice, version numbers look like this: 2022.1.2.

In this case, the year of release is is 2022.

The minor version is .1.

And the week of release is .2. (Remember, there are 52 weeks in a year.)

Legacy

The version numbers for previous versions of Netreo software consists of three parts:

• Major release version number
• Minor release version number
• Maintenance release version number

These version numbers follow this format: 12.1.35.

In this case, the major version is 12.

The minor version is .1.

And the maintenance release version is .35.

Maintenance Releases

Maintenance releases primarily contain bug fixes and updates to existing features. However, they also occasionally include the introduction of entirely new features.

Schedule

Maintenance release are scheduled to release regularly every two weeks on Wednesday. This schedule is based solely on the day of the week (Wednesday), regardless of what day of the month that day happens to fall on.

If a maintenance version cannot be released on its scheduled day, its version number will be skipped and all included fixes and feature updates are rolled into the next scheduled maintenance release (two weeks later, unless released as a hotfix release - see below). This is cumulative for any adjacent skipped releases.

Hotfix Releases

Hotfix releases contain fixes or changes that shouldn't wait for the next regularly scheduled maintenance release. They are essentially unscheduled maintenance releases. However, they do always release on Wednesday in the week between the current maintenance release and the upcoming scheduled maintenance release.
